Design It! ® New Features

Of the many new features in Design It! ® Version 1.7.18, there are several that we are very excited about. They go beyond the capabilities of any other product on the market. These amazing new features include:

Multi Language Capabilities: Design It! ® now has the ability to perform automatic language conversions, supporting 2 or more languages per project. Documentation may be configured to use any combination of languages. Each slave database is automatically updated based on any data inserts, deletes or modifications applied to the Master database.

  • Power Panels: Power panels are a subset of the components created within the Equipment forms. Using Power Panels, Design It! ® allows direct cabling of equipment, devices and motors directly to a power source.
  • External Control System File: Users can now import external control system files into Design It! ®. The external control system is imported as a single unit. It may contain any combination of user-defined columns and data. Supported formats include excel, text, etc.
  • Expanded Cable Termination and Connection Capabilities: The Cable/Cable Terminations module now includes enhanced capabilities and navigation methods that vastly improve efficiencies.
  • Excel and HTML Export/Import Capabilities: We have added Excel and HTML export/import capabilities for instrument specification sheets, process data sheets, and electrical equipment specification sheets. This preserves the layout and allows for changes without using Design It! ® The importing capabilities allows the edited information to be integrated back into Design It! ®
  • Process Data Sheets, Instrument Specification Sheets and Electrical Equipment Sheets now have the ability to have multiple pages per specification sheet, containing unlimited user defined fields.
  • The Instrument Index is now extended to include Instrument Hookup Diagrams, and Calibration Settings which are both fully customizable.
  • The Cable module now supports voltage drop analysis and display. Interactive calculation provides instantaneous feedback for the loading of cables.
  • Design It! ® now supports integration with the Intools database, for people using Intools for their instrument facilities.
  • Copy Utility: This utility copies Motor and Instrument designs between projects. Designs copied between projects automatically adopt the tagging, design rules and criteria of the Destination Project.
  • Virtual Tags: This feature provides a tagging mechanism for PLC/DCS software components.
  • User Defined Fields: User defined fields have been added to the motor, instrument and equipment tables.
  • Process Data Sheets: Process data sheets is a fully user definable module for Design It! ® This module allows process data to be integrated into Design It! ® and referenced to instrument spec sheets.
  • Instrument Specification Sheets: This provides unlimited user defined fields as an extension of the index table.
  • Equipment Specification Sheets: This provides unlimited user defined fields as an extension to the equipment table.
  • Sequential cable tags: Design It! ® includes several user definable methods to identify cable tags. Cable tags may be based upon connected objects, and take the form of the object(s) or they may be numerical and sequentially assigned.
  • Sequential or predefined terminal identification for junction boxes: Design It! ® automatically builds terminal strips within junction boxes, marshalling panels and applies terminal identification in one of two formats. Terminals may be created with “blank” numbers that can be allocated when used or they may be created with predefined values. Terminals may be created using numeric patterns, 1, 2, 3, etc or 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, etc.
  • User definable cable connection methods: Design It! ® may be configured to support different types of cable routing and connection methods.
  • Currently automated cable connection methods may be MCC or power source centric or “daisy chained”. Manual override or alterations may be applied at any time to either connection method without impacting the work completed.
  • User definable and configurable datasheet(unlimited fields): Design It! ® contains a unique specification sheet tool. We have developed a tool that supports an unlimited number of user defined fields. Specification sheets may include graphic objects, and may be in any presentation layout. Our technology simplifies the creation of specification sheets.
  • Dual tagging scheme: Design It! ® provides the ability to support two distinct tagging schemes for all items within the database. Users may switch between either tag format at any time. All tagged items, whether drive numbers, instrument tags, cable numbers, wire numbers, etc. will automatically change throughout the database.
  • This feature is especially useful for original equipment manufacturers who build standard equipment but sell to a variety of clients with different tagging schemes or for those clients who change tag formats halfway through the project.
